ABOUT THE POSITION
The Agronomy Sales position is responsible for building strong customer relationships within Skyland Grain’s trade territory and selling chemical, fertilizer and seed products.
This position will have customer retention and new customer sales goals and expectations.
A description of the duties includes:
Evaluate current customer programs and develop programs to meet customer needs while growing the business;
This position is expected to get out in the country and call directly on customers (existing and new) professionally as to build the reputation and relationship with Skyland Grain;
Develop a plan and initiative, to target large area growers (existing customers and new customers) with bulk fertilizer and chemical purchases;
Collaborate with agronomy operations, technical staff and credit to heighten the visibility and impact of sales calls;
Provide a weekly report to the Agronomy Department Manager detailing out customers visits and details of any promises or sales that were made;
Prepare sales presentations, contracts, bids and proposals to ensure successful outcome of transactions;
Provide training and product information to employees and customers;
Service customer complaints;
Manage and complete special projects as needed;
Develop a comprehensive knowledge of multiple fertilizer and chemical products and apply this knowledge in all aspects of the position;
Cross-sell and promote the other products and services offered by Skyland Grain and its affiliated companies;
Maintains and promotes safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements;
Understand and comply with all state and federal regulations;
Present a clean and professional appearance;
Perform all other duties as directed by the supervisor.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy or related field; at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Basic computer operation skills
Valid driver's license
