Start Date January 2024 Listed On November 27, 2023 Position Type 12 Month - Full Time Salary Commensurate with qualifications and experience Job Summary The Director of the Hispanic Student Center (HSC) is responsible for the development and oversight of programs and services which foster success, satisfaction and enhancement of the university experience.
Particular emphasis is placed on the implementation of a university-wide strategy designed to increase the recruitment, matriculation, support, retention, and ultimate graduation of students designated as under-represented enrolled at Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU).
Additionally, the Director will develop, pilot, and oversee programs and services that will support and enhance the academic, social, emotional, and overall success of students designated as under-represented as well as the entire HSC student body based on the goals and objectives of the Title V HSI Grant.
Responsibilities Develop and pilot face-to-face services for each year in the Hispanic Student Center Develop and pilot cultural resources for the Hispanic Student Center Visit and observe campuses with strong Hispanic student programs Coordinate with Project Director and Facilities staff to complete renovation of Hispanic Student Center Hire and train tutors to support Hispanic students and others designated as underrepresented at OPSU Select and train mentors oriented to Hispanic students and others designated as underrepresented at OPSU Develop long-range strategic planning and program development, including the assessment of such programs and services, consistent with the mission of OPSU Develop programs and services designed to increase the recruitment, retention, matriculation, and ultimate graduation of Hispanic students and others designated as under-represented enrolled at OPSU Supervise department personnel effectively to insure that programs and services support the campus-wide strategy and the mission of the HSC.
anage the outcomes assessment and documentation of OPSU student success initiatives.
Counsel, advise, and consult with students, faculty, staff and alumni individually and collectively to embrace the importance of building an inclusive, appreciative, and welcoming environment.
Act as an advocate for Hispanic students and others designated as underrepresented.
Develop, facilitate, and maintain, an undergraduate mentoring program for Hispanic students and others designated as under-represented.
Provide support and guidance to university recognized underrepresented student organizations.
To work on an ongoing basis with departments such as: Admissions, Financial Aid Undergraduate Studies, University Counseling, Educational Support Services, and Career Planning & Placement who focus on recruitment, retention, and the success of Hispanic and other underrepresented students Develop and support OPSU to be an inclusive university for all students.
Manage and initiate fundraising efforts when opportunities arise in the areas of grant management, major gifts and corporate and foundation relations.
Coordinate the preparation of adjustments and supporting documentation for the coordination and implementation of HSC activities according to the guidelines of the Title V Grant Manage and develop the record-keeping practices for the HSC according to the guidelines of the Title V Grant and for maintaining confidential files.
Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution, both internally and in the community Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible t be able to lift more than 50-lb.

Qualifications 5 years of progressive responsibility in higher education, preferably directing a college or university department/program for underrepresented students.
Demonstrated strong knowledge of Hispanic community required.
Strong understanding /expertise in working with issues faced by underrepresented students.
The ability to speak Spanish is required.
Strong marketing and presentation expertise in employer outreach to national and international organizations.
An inclusive philosophy in order to support all university students, faculty, and staff.
Flexible attitude and ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.
Required: Bachelor’s Degree required in appropriate field.
Master’s Degree preferred (preferably higher education).
