The District was established in 1966 as a not-for-profit hospital and officially opened its doors in 1969 with 23 acute care beds.
Since that time the District has followed its vision "to provide a comprehensive healthcare system to our isolated rural service area" through an active pursuit of enhanced health care services.
Some key services added in fulfillment of this vision include the addition of a 40 bed intermediate care Long Term Care Center, establishment of a Home Health Agency and Hospice , and the building of a 16 bed secured Alzheimer's Care Unit.
SECHD's vision continued when the Specialty Physicians Clinic program was developed, and most recently in 2007 when the new Physicians Medical Clinic facility was completed.
*Physical Therapist* *Plans, organizes and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of physical therapy.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team.
Supervises work of support personnel.
* ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Evaluates patient upon initial encounter to assess impairment and current condition to estimate rehabilitation potential.
* Plans physical therapy treatment program for each patient, based on the assessment, including training in functional mobility, use of assistive devices, therapeutic exercise, balance and coordination retraining, massage, heat, and cryotherapy.
* Applies diagnostic and progressive muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability tests.
* Directs and aids patient in therapeutic regimen.
* Delegates routine care to supportive personnel as appropriate.
* Acts in supervisory role to ensure proper execution of tasks.
* Provides the necessary billing documentation for billing purposes.
* Adapts conventional physical therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out a regime of therapeutic exercises.
* Evaluates, records and reports on patient progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team.
* Communicate effectively with physician, other members of rehabilitation team and others as indicated regarding treatment plan and patient response to plan.
* Counsels patient and family according to degree of disability or impairment.
* Completes all required documentation thoroughly and in a timely manner.
* Conducts Physical Therapy assessments for pre-employment requirements.
* Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
* Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Current Colorado Physical Therapy License.
Bachelor’s degree/MS, Graduation from an APTA approved school.
Three years of experience as a staff physical therapist is preferred.
Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Must be in good physical and mental health.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and must have adequate sight and hearing.
Ability to pull, push, lift, carry, bend, touch, maneuver and feel objects with fingers; mobile despite architectural barriers.
Ability to lift 50 pounds to transfer patients/residents and equipment.
Visual acuity required to perceive reactions to treatment and good eye-hand coordination is necessary.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: * Must have available working automobile, valid drivers license and proof of insurance.
Requires strong people skills and verbal communication.
Must be professional, flexible, caring, and compassionate and exhibit a congenial and sensitive attitude toward patients/residents.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, their families and staff members.
Requires working under stressful conditions.
Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Frequent exposures common to clinical environment such as medical preparations and toxic substances.
Occasional exposure to ionizing radiation.
JOB LOCATION: * Physical Therapy Department or at the main facility -hospital, Long term care or Alzheimer’s Unit as assigned.
