SMALL ENGINE/MOWER TECHNICIAN
for our dealership in Garden City, Kansas.
The Small Engine/Mower Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of small engines and outdoor power equipment, including lawnmowers, chainsaws, trimmers, and other related equipment.
This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high quality service to our customers.
COMPENSATION:
This is a full-time position with 45+ hours/week.
Base hourly wage ranges between $18-$24/hour, depending on experience.
Plus eligible for overtime and commission.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Diagnose and repair small engines and outdoor power equipment efficiently and accurately.
Inspect equipment to identify worn or damaged parts and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tune-ups.
Communicate through verbal and written methods for the purpose of conversing with customers and creating warranty write-ups.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and electrical systems on small engines and mowers.
Complete all duties in a manner consistent with established safety policies and procedures.
Maintain and care for department tools, equipment, and vehicles.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Provide professional and courteous service and present a positive and professional image of the company towards fellow employees and customers.
Perform any additional duties and training as deemed necessary by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent; technical training in small engine repair is preferred.
Proven experience as a small engine technician or similar role.
Must have appropriate set of tools and acquire additional tools as needed for performing tasks, as determined by Service Manager/Shop Foreman.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching overhead, must be able to regularly lift 75 lbs.
without assistance, grasping with both hands, pushing and pulling, working around moving machinery, driving a vehicle, extensive hours on a computer, hearing normal tones, and seeing.
May be exposed to extreme weather conditions from extreme heat to winter blizzard conditions.
PERFORMANCE METRICS:
Complete Technical Foundations and Systems diagnostics Learning Paths within 3 years of hire date.
Complete and maintain training as required by the brands we serve.
Have/gain a good understanding of Time Management and Labor Performance.
Become a revenue tech in a maximum of 6 months.
Maintain a Labor Performance (LPX) of 85 or higher.
Accept direction and instruction from qualified sources, as identified by the Service Manager.
