ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Interviews patients or their representatives to collect and verify required data for registration form that includes name, address, phone number, attending physician and individual or agency responsible for clinic bill.
• Enters patient information into computer database, as well as other information such as tests ordered by physician, and lab orders, etc.
• Obtains required signatures on forms according to established procedures, and ensures information recorded is complete and accurate.
• Assembles patient files that include registration forms, test requisitions, and photocopies of insurance cards, driver's license, and pre-admission orders.
• Delivers patient information and forms to appropriate nurse immediately.
• Greet patients, create a friendly helpful contact and monitor waiting time prior to medical appointment.
• Makes inquiries for accident and insurance information in a knowledgeable and friendly manner, assembles patient files, and forwards to nursing unit.
• Collect outpatient co-pays and writes receipts.
• Directs or escorts patients to waiting area.
• Assist with filing charts/paperwork, scheduling and answering phones as needed.
• Input outpatient data using different types of insurance, bill codes, occurrence codes and accident codes.
• Processes super bills.
• Inform patients of different types of insurance/assistance programs available.
• Monitor waiting rooms for cleanliness, stock magazines and educational literature as needed.
• Back-up other receptionists as needed.
• Attends meetings and in-service sessions, as directed.
• Requires regular attendance and punctuality.
• Performs other assigned duties.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not oversee other positions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education and Experience
• High School Education or equivalent
• Obtain CPR within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Education and Experience
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
• Ability to pay close attention to detail, work in a fast-paced environment and handle crisis situations
•May be required to work one Saturday per month and work early morning and late evening clinic days.
