Deseret Cattle Feeders is seeking a trustworthy and knowledgeable Herd Health Supervisor to join our feedlot management team.
The Supervisor is responsible for the efficient and effective care of animals and execution of herd health and reproductive protocols.
Responsibilities:
* Hold accountable and train team members on proper animal welfare, care and handling.
* Monitor animal condition daily and evaluate the status of the herd on progressive performance.
Be sure lame animals are treated.
* Ensure regular and maintenance trimmings.
* Coordinate and schedule team member’s efforts to care for equipment.
* Know and enforce processes of animal treatment and reproduction, focusing on weekly processes and deadlines.
* Monitor metabolic incidences and look for ways to reduce incidence by monitoring weekly indicators.
* Recognize bottlenecks and recommend areas of improvement.
* Make sure all areas are clean and neat.
* Review inventory and account for drug use and storage.
* Monitor team members to observe adherence to company, herd health, and reproduction protocols.
Conduct regular touch bases and refresher training.
* Anticipate and respond to weather changes as needed: rain, snow, wind, and cold.
* Champion a best-in-class safety program by promoting consistent safety training attendance, compliance with all animal handling programs, and encouraging the use of PPE and adherence to all other EHS programs.
Qualifications:

S.
diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated effective leadership skills with experience evaluating performance, coaching/mentoring, training, and building a high performing team.
* Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
Spanish language ability strongly preferred.
* Proficient computer skills: ability to learn new systems/technology including Microsoft tools, DHI Plus and AFI programs.
* Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job which includesability to safely move animals needing assistance, requiring the ability to lift up to 100lbs and be on feet for long periods of time.
Must be able to accommodate the regular farm schedule of 50-60 hours per week, in addition to work nights and weekends, per business needs.
